Clean Beauty Baby!

You may have heard the term "clean beauty" floating around, but what does it mean? Well, to put it simply, clean beauty is about using natural and non-toxic ingredients in your makeup and skincare products. So if you're looking to switch to a more green and sustainable lifestyle, switching to clean beauty products is a great place to start!

I'm done with conventional beauty products packed in plastic and containing microplastics, contributing to pollution. If you're ready to make the switch, too, here are some of my favorite clean beauty brands.

Activist Skincare. A refillable vegan skincare brand with only a 4-step method that actually works. I've been using the same bottles for almost three years now. Their refill pouches are made of mylar, with a lesser carbon footprint than producing and shipping new glass bottles every time. The pouches can be recycled through TerraCycle. They also donate a portion of their profit to organizations fighting tirelessly for a cleaner and healthier planet.

Cupid and Psyche Beauty. Low-waste vegan and cruelty-free lipstick packed in post-consumer recycled paper and nail polish in glass bottles.  They are Leaping Bunny certified, and they donate a portion of their profits to saving bees and animal non-profits, including the Pollinator Partnership, Elephant Nature Park, Humane Society International, and Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Pink Moon. This multipurpose oil is perfect for all of your senses. It can be used on your body, in your hair, in the bath, and as a fragrance. It's made with natural ingredients and will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. In addition, they're vegan and cruelty-free, and they support organizations like Save the Children, The Loveland Foundation, Animal Haven, Womankind, and GrowNYC.

Catrice Cosmetics. Vegan eyeliner and eye shadow. They're also free from microplastics, parabens, silicones, and pure palm oil. In addition, they are not tested on animals making them 100% cruelty-free.

Axiology. I've been using their lip-to-lid balmies for over a year now. I use their balmies for my lips, cheeks, and eyelids. They are vegan, cruelty-free, and palm-oil free. They donate to animal welfare organizations.

Dirty Hippie Cosmetics. Plastic-free mascara that is vegan, cruelty-free, and also free from toxins.

Happy Earth Deodorant. A natural and toxin-free deodorant that actually works even without an armpit detox. I've tried a few natural deodorant brands before, even made my own, but they never worked. Happy Earth deodorant works wonder.

Nature Box. Their shampoo and conditioner bars are natural, vegan, and free from parabens, silicones, and microplastics. They smell good, and they support local farmers. I also use shampoo bars from The Boholana Essentialsbut I already ran out of their shampoo bars. They are based in Bohol, Philippines, and are supporting the efforts of Plastic Free Bohol and Boholano cacao farmers.

Washable makeup remover from Pink Moon and Catrice Cosmetics. Gotta love washable and reusables!

The plastic crisis is real, y'all, and it's time for us all to do our part in reducing the amount of waste we produce. Join me in making the switch to clean beauty products – your skin (and the environment) will thank you!
